Is Embryo Adoption Right For You?

When growing your family, how can you tell if embryo adoption is right for you? There’s a lot to factor in, so we’ve pulled together some of the most important considerations as a starting point.

Determining Whether You’re Eligible

Infertility can be caused by either male factors, female factors, or a combination of the two. Your eligibility will be based on where you fall on that spectrum.

Couples who are affected by male factor infertility are typically a great fit for embryo adoption. Additionally, if a waiting mother’s eggs are unable to reproduce, she can oftentimes still become pregnant through embryo donation.

You’ll need to be able to safely carry a baby through pregnancy in order to receive an embryo donation. Ask your Reproductive Endocrinologist about whether this is possible for you.

Figuring Out The Costs

Embryo adoption is one of the most wallet-friendly alternatives available today. Where traditional adoptions and IVF can both cost more than $20,000, embryo adoption is typically in the $3,000 to $5,000 range. Read more about the costs of embryo adoption here.

Determining The Timeline

Typically it takes around six months to go from from submitting an application to receiving an embryo donation. This timeframe is much shorter that the average length of time for an egg donation or to complete a traditional child adoption.

Weighing Out Your Options

There are pros and cons to every path when it comes to adoption, and we encourage you to check out more information about each before making a decision. That being said, some of the benefits we’ve heard most from mothers who choose embryo adoption include: getting to cherish the pregnancy experience and bonding with their child before birth. You’re also able to make sure that your baby receives a healthy and happy pregnancy.
